  • Odin pendant

18 x 15 mm

Originally, this was a silver figurine from around year 900AD.
It is quite a unique item, found in Old Lejre, during the 2009 excavation works undertaken by Roskilde Museum.
The item points towards Lejre being the old residence of Kings, as it was depicted in the Skjoldunge Saga.

It is believed to be a depiction of Odin, sitting on Lidskjalv, his throne from where he can see the worlds. On the throne, or part of it are his two ravens, Huginn and Muninn, and the wolves Geri and Freki. Some theories are that this might be Frigg / Frigga, as the garb of the character could easily be those of a woman.
